Screwbean Mesquite or Tornillo,
A small tree that grows fast, up to 33 feet tall and 20 feet wide. The yellow flowers bloom in spring and winter. It is deciduous in the winter. This plant has tightly twisted legumes (seedpods) which very much resemble turned screws.
