Purple Three Awn
This fast growing perennial grass grows up to three feet hight and two feet wide. It is deciduous and can get sparse in the Fall especially in colder climates. Recommended for erosion control on slopes, hillsides, and in canyons. Avoid cutting back the plant if possible. Remove old seed heads by gently pulling.
Plant with: Creosote Bush (Larrea tridentata), Sagebrush (Artemisia sp.), Joshua Tree (Yucca brevifolia), Brittlebush(Encelia sp.), Buckwheat (Eriogonum sp.), and various cactus and succulent species.
