Scarlet Bugler

A fast growing perennial that grows up to four feet tall and one foot wide.  Red tubular flower clusters bloom in the spring through summer.  It goes summer deciduous.  A great feature in a rock garden.  It is also pretty cold hardy!

Plant with:  Chamise (Adenostema fasciculatum), Manzanita (Arctostaphylos species), Ceanothus species, Bush Poppy (Dendromecon rigida), Bladderpod (Peritoma arborea), Mountain Mahogany (Cercocarpus species), Sages (Salvia species), Yucca (Hesperoyucca and Yucca sp.), succulents such as Dudleya sp., and various cactus species

- Plant in full sun to part shade

- Best in well drained rocky, loamy, or clay soil

- Drought tolerant

- Deer resistant

- Attracts birds, bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds
