A native spreading shrub in the Chenopodiaceae (Goosefoot) family that grows up to eight feet tall and ten feet wide. Plants resprout well after hard pruning. The Breweri has larger leaves and fruits, very distinct from Naomi.
Plant with: Iodine Bush (Allenrolfea occidentalis), Alkali Goldenbush (Isocoma acradenia), Desert Thorn (Lycium sp.), Coyote Brush (Baccharis pilularis), Saltwort (Batis maritima), Arrow Weed (Pluchea sericea), Seablight (Saueda californica or taxifolia), and Pickleweed (Salicornia sp.)
Care:
- Plant in full sun to light shade
- Best in well-drained soil, does not need irrigation
- Water once a month after the first year
- Drought tolerant
- Attracts birds and butterflies
- Hardy up to 15 degrees
- Native to California
