Passiflora Frederick - Passion Fruit

A perennial vine that can reach up to twenty feet high and wide.  This is one of the hardiest passion fruit vines.  Fruit is ripe when it falls off the vine-if consumed before it is ripe it can be toxic.  The fruit is ripe during summer through fall.

The leaves are a great alternate to spinach, especially the new leaves.  They can also be used raw or cooked.  Steep leaves in a tea to help with anxiety, irregular heart beats, and high blood pressure. The leaves contain fiber, antioxidants, flavonoids, vitamins A and C, minerals-riboflavin, niacin, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, copper, fiber, and protein.
