Organic Mamie Brown's Pink Tomato Seeds

Donated to Seed Savers Exchange in 1995 by Alicia Brown-Matthes of Iowa. This variety was a favorite of Alicia’s grandmother, Mamie Brown, who grew it in her West Virginia garden. Large, pink beefsteak type with a perfect sweet/acid flavor balance.

  • 80-90 days from transplant
  • Organic
  • Pink beefsteak fruits of varying shapes
  • Indeterminate - Fruit ripens throughout the season
  • Double fruits are somewhat common
  • From the Collection 2013

This variety works for:

  • Fresh eating
  • Sauce
  • Canning

Store your tomatoes at room temperature. The flavor and texture of tomatoes suffer when the fruit is chilled.

Heirloom tomatoes are bred for their flavor, and simple preparation best allows that intense flavor to shine through. Sliced tomatoes can be drizzled with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper, or layered with basil and mozzarella slices for a caprese salad.

Roasted tomatoes have a richer, concentrated flavor.

There are hundreds of salsa recipes to try, and most are dramatically improved with the use of heirloom tomatoes. Tomatoes are also the main ingredient in Gazpacho, a cold soup perfect for summer.
