Mexican Rush

A fast growing evergreen that grows up to two feet high and is rhizomatous.  Green brown flower clusters bloom in the spring.  It is semi deciduous in the summer.  

You can remove things caught in the stems with a rake.  You should cut the plants back every 10-15 years to the ground in late fall or early winter.

Plant with:  other marsh plants such as Carex sp., Spikerush (Eleocharis sp.), Rush (Juncus sp.), SaltMarsh Fleabane (Pluchea odorata), Arrowhead (Sagittaria sp.), Willow (Salix sp.), Hedgenettle (Stachys bullata), and Cattail (Typha sp.)

- Plant in full to part sun, tolerates shade

- Tolerates most soils

- Keep moist, water regularly

- Attracts butterflies

- Hardy up to 15 degrees

- Native to Mexico
