A perennial from Japan, called Japanese basil. It tastes like cinnamon, clove, cumin, and mint. The leaves can be eaten fresh, pickled, dried, salted, and in dishes. A nice companion with tomatoes. Shiso thrives in heat and can be drought tolerant.
