Purple Needle Grass

Named the California State grass in 2004.  It can reach a height of up to three feet tall and one and a half feet wide.  It is found in the valleys, mountains and coastal hills throughout California.  The root system can reach up to twenty feet deep below the soil.  It helps suppress invasive plants and helps support native oaks.

- Grows well in clay and serpentine soil

- Great companion plant under evergreen oaks
