Calliandra X ‘LIANCA’ Sierra StarrTM PP 15,387 (Baja Fairy Duster)
A hybrid between Calliandra eriophylla and Calliandra californica. This shrub grows up to five feet high and wide. It has criss-crossing branches with dark green leaves that look like tight miniature ferns. Red spikey flowers bloom year around with seed pods that look like snow peas and when ripe they explode. This shrub is native to sandy washes, flats, and hillsides. You can plant a few and use these plants as a screen, plant one singularly, or plant in a deep pot.
Plant with Desert Willow, California Fan Palm, Desert Lavender, Creosote Bush, Ocotillo, Jojoba, Blue Paloverde, White Bursage, Chuparosa, Barrel Cactus, Brittlebush, Indigo Bush, Apricot Mallow, Opuntia spp, numerous annual wildflowers.
