Acmispon tomentosus var. glabriusculus, Woolly Lotus
Commonly found in coastal plains, canyons and mountains in CA + Baja. This acmispon grows up to 2 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide. The stems are branched, with small, winter deciduous, leaves consisting of three to six leaflets. The plant blooms from March to October and has flowers that are small, yellow, and clustered together. The flowers become reddish with age. The fruit consists of a curved pod with two seeds. Can be cut back in late summer or early fall to stimulate new growth.
