Snake Plant, Mother-in-Law’s Tongue

This is a hardy succulent that has dark green leaves , it is the tallest and darkest sansevieria. The leaves grow  up to three feet long and up to 1 inch wide.  When grown in low light the color of the leaves is almost black.  Feed every month throughout the summer with a general purpose fertilizer that is diluted to one half the strength suggested on the container.   This plant has air cleaning capabilities by removing formaldehyde, xylene and trichloroethylene from the air.  This plant can be mildly toxic to humans, cats, and dogs.

Plant indoors with low light.  Bright light will bring out the colors in the leaves and may cause the edges to turn yellow

- Best in well-drained cactus soil

- Water once a week, allow soil to dry completely.  Discard water in saucer after each watering.  Never allow soil to become soggy.

- Average room temperatures

 -Native to Africa
