Engelmann Oak

A semi green tree that reaches a height of 65 feet tall and 90 feet wide.  Cream flowers bloom winter through spring.  This is a rare oak native to Pasadena.  This plant produces a pollen that can produce an allergic reaction.

Prune in the late summer- August to September after all active growth has stopped and hardened off.  Mature trees do not need to be pruned.  Young trees should be pruned to train it.  New foliage should sprout right after trees leaves turn yellow and drop.

- Full Sun to part shade

- Tolerates most soils.  Best in heavy clay soil.

- Well draining soil

- Occasional water

- Drought tolerant

- Attracts birds and butterflies

- Native to California
