California native Canyon Prince Wild Rye - Elymus condensatus 'Canyon Prince'

A California native gray-blue evergreen grass that spreads by rhizomes.  It can reach up to three feet tall and four feet wide.  It is a drought tolerant grass but appreciates water summer water to stay looking fresh.  It is a warm season grower. If you cut it back in spring new shoots will be bright green but will turn blue gray again as they age.  This is one of our faves.

- Plant in full sun to light shade

- Best in well-drained sandy soil, fine in clay, tolerates all but soggy soils

- Great companion plant under evergreen oaks

- Drought resistant

- Attracts butterflies

- Hardy up to 10 degrees

- Native to California

- Easy to grow
