Ceanothus g.h.'Yankee Point'

This California Native shrub grows up to three feet tall and twelve feet wide.  It is a weed-smothering, fast growing ground cover.  Yankee Point has powder blue flowers that bloom winter through spring.  It is tolerant of hot interior locations as long as some shade and irrigation are provided.  This shrub was originally found at Yankee Point in Monterey County.

Pinch and lightly prune in spring after flowering. You can remove flower clusters right after blooming to encourage a denser growth habit.   If given too much water it will be short lived.  You shouldn’t cut into any new growth that is larger around than a pencil.  Larger cuts heal slowly and become infected with apricot dieback fungus, fungal spores are spread by rain.
