Common name: Big Leaf Maple, Oregon Maple
A California Native tree that can reach over a 100 feet tall that can grow pretty quickly. It is deciduous in the winter. This tree can be found on the pacific coast or sometimes in the foothills of the Sierras. This plant produces a pollen that can produce an allergic reaction.
Plant with: Western Sycamore (Platanus racemosa), White Alder (Alnus rhombifolia), Cottonwood (Populus species), Bay Laurel (Umbellularia californica) Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), Ponderosa Pine (Pinus ponderosa), and Red Fir (Abies magnifica)
