Alocasia Sumo

This plant is a cross between Purple Cloak and Portora.  The leaves are large and dark green on the top with light red ribs underneath.  The leaves can reach up to four feet long and two feet wide.  This plant can reach a height of ten feet.  Alocasia grows well in big pots; they can thrive in the summertime and then be brought indoors in the winter.  Fertilize once a month during spring and summer, growing season.  Alocasias go dormant in winter and the leaves drop.  Alsocasias are susceptible to spider mites, check the plant periodically.  The leaves are toxic to humans and animals.
