Coulter Pine, Big Cone Pine

A Native Southern California pine.  It can reach a height of up to 140 feet tall.  It has large spiny cones that can reach up to 16 inches long and weigh up to ten pounds, they are called widowmakers.  The needles are long, up to 12 inches long.  Yellow flowers bloom in the spring.  This plant produces a pollen that can produce an allergic reaction.
