California Fuchsia, Hummingbird Flower, and Hummingbird Trumpet, Chaparral Silver' Fuchsia

A semi - deciduous perennial that grows up to a foot and a half tall and wide.  It forms a dense spreading mat.  The red tubular flowers bloom summer through fall. 

 

It is not recommended to prune the plant until it is established, about two years.  Once established cut back hard every winter after the plant is done blooming.  It should be cut back to 2” stubs.  If the plant is not pruned, new growth will emerge at the tips of existing stems.
