Pinus monophylla, Oneneedle Pinyon Pine

A pine native to the Sierras in California.  It can reach a height of up to 66 feet tall.  It will take a long time to reach maturity, it grows up to three feet in seven years.  This tree is the only tree in the world with one needle. Yellow flowers bloom in the spring. 

Plant with:  Sagebrush, Buckbrush, Desert Ceanothus, Desert Mountain Mahogany, Buckwheat, Apache Plume, Flannelbush, Yucca, California Juniper, Antelope Brush, Desert Sage, Rose Sage, and various cactus species
