Common name: California bush sunflower

A fast growing California native shrub that grows to four feet high and seven feet wide.  It is a member of the coastal sage plant community at the shoreline. It can also be found on inland foothills in the Transverse and Peninsular Ranges.  This plant has yellow daisy like flowers that bloom February through June.  These plants grow and bloom throughout the year with the exception to the hottest part of summer and the coldest time in winter.  The best time to prune this plant is in late November.  You can cut back the entire plant to 4” stubs.  To encourage the plants to bloom more you can dead head after the blooming cycle.
