Certified Organic Roselle, Hibiscus sabdariffa
Native to Africa. This plant has hibiscus like flowers. The calyce, the red sheath that opens up the flower is used in salads, boiled in water to make a tea, or juice, pulp can be made into jam or pies. The flavor resembles cranberries. Calyces are usually ready to be harvested in October through February.
Roselle has anti inflammatory and antibacterial properties and is used to cure toothaches, menstrual pain, urinary tract infections, colds, coughs, and fevers and hangovers. It also aids digestion, helps with weight loss, antidepressant, anti cancer, and assists with high blood pressure.
Roselle has: 215 mg of Calcium, 1.48 mg of Iron, 12 mg of Vitamin C, 51 mg of Magnesium, 6.0 g of Carbohydrate, 37 mg of Phosphorus, 208 mg of Potassium, as well as Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, B2 and B3
