Eaton's Firecracker
A perennial that grows up to three feet tall and wide. Red tubular flower clusters bloom in the spring through summer. It is deciduous in the winter.
Plant with: Big Sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata), Brittlebush (Encelia sp.), Apache Plume (Fallugia paradoxa), Juniper (Juniperus sp.), Pinyon Pine (Pinus monophylla), Desert Scrub Oak(Quercus cornelius-mulleri), Desert Sage (Salvia dorrii), and Joshua Tree (Yucca brevifolia)
- Plant in full sun to part shade
- Best in well drained sand or decomposed granite soil
- Low moisture
- Water once a month during summer
- Attracts birds, bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds
- Hardy up to 20 degrees
- Native to California
